Our qualified social workers help people find practical solutions to day-to-day problems. We work with people with a very broad range of needs. This could include issues around family problems, abuse, disability, communication problems, educational problems, mental heath problems, low self-esteem, drug and alcohol use, difficulties with life skills and independent living, or other issues.

We also work with families in crisis, where there is a risk the family could break down.

Birthright Hawke's Bay not only works with people in their own homes, but also through its Hastings and Napier offices as well as:

Swinburn House  a non-profit preschool education centre for children where we currently average about 27 children daily because of the high needs and special character of some of the young people who attend.
Birthright provides an holistic environment for the children at Swinburn because of the links with professional social workers and Birthright’s other core services.

Magic House  residential care for teenager boys aged 12 to 17 years whose only other options may have been ‘lock up’ or out-of-town residential care.
